WASHINGTON — The Food and Drug Administration is alerting United States residents to a recall of counterfeit versions of Pfizer Inc.’s Lipitor sold in the United Kingdom. The counterfeit 20-mg tablets of the cholesterol medicine (sold in 28-count packages) were recalled late last month.
According to the agency, consumers who purchased FDA-approved Lipitor products sold through legitimate U.S. pharmacies should not have received any of the counterfeit tablets (which reportedly do not pose an immediate risk to patients) and are not subject to this recall.
